The problem

Long days of typing were causing hand strain, and existing tools were either cloud-only or sluggish. I needed a desktop companion that could be summoned with a hotkey, stay invisible when not in use, and keep sensitive text local.

How it was built fast

I sketched a lean wireframe, then iterated in Swift with tight build → test → commit loops. A menu-bar recorder with a global shortcut gives sub-second start/stop. On-device models guarantee privacy and eliminate network latency. The UI stays minimal: live waveform, confidence coloring, and clipboard-ready output.

Impact

TurboWhisper turned spoken thoughts into clean text without leaving the desktop context. It removed the overhead of web tools, eased hand strain, and sped up meeting notes and long-form drafting.

Why it matters for clients

This build shows we can ship polished macOS-native experiences quickly, keep data on-device when privacy matters, and run a repeatable cadence of daily iterations with feature-by-feature delivery.
